Carin Ism. Born in 1985. Based in Stockholm, Sweden.
The work of Carin Ism arose from a trance-like state where Ism was overpowered with desire to move motifs through a multitude of mediums, using broken printers, faulty software, ink and acrylic.
Never adding to the original shapes, but fusing them, highlighting and contouring, exploring what happens when a simple form is exaggerated and examined. What DNA can be retrieved and what feeling will manifest itself when a picture is put under extreme scrutiny.
The original themes are picked from what Ism feels strongly about, from pictures of lost partners to sketches depicting oppressive architecture. The process continues until the original picture is effectively encrypted by its own shapes and limitations. Ism continues to alter between different ways of experiencing consciousness, halting in the creative frenzy to create and embody what the work above everything else is exploring: What is lost and found in translation.
